Parent/Student Contract

We acknowledge by signing below that I have read the syllabus for the course indicated above. We have reviewed the syllabus and understand the objectives of this course. I am aware of my instructor’s planning period, and I know how to contact her via e-mail or voice-mail, for help with and/or clarification of course contents or procedures.  I understand that it is my responsibility to attend class and participate in discussions and projects.  I understand that if I am absent, I am responsible for making up the missed assignments and for the material covered in class.  I understand how my performance will be evaluated and how my final grade will be determined.

The school has a few cameras that students are allowed to check out. Considering the amount of students taking a Photography 1 level course, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that students purchase their own 35mm SLR film camera. Students checking out school cameras are on a first come, first serve basis. Failure to check out a camera in a timely manner is NOT an excuse for not having their assignments completed by the designated date.

In addition, my instructor has provided me with the class rules and procedures. These procedures were discussed on the first day of class.
  
  • Come to class prepared.
  • Allow others to learn by refraining from talking and calling out. Raise your hand to speak.
  • Listen carefully and follow instructions.
  • Use safety in the classroom and darkroom. 
  • Respect materials and equipment. Use equipment properly.
  • No cells phones or electronic devices allowed in class or in the darkroom.
  • Follow the Code of Student Conduct.
  • Pay the photography fee of $60 as set by Miami-Dade County Public Schools before the end of the 1st quarter.
  • Each student is responsible for maintaining the darkroom and cleaning up after themselves. Failure to do so will result in loss of darkroom use. 
  • Replace all lab materials to their original spot after use. 
  • If you are UNSURE about how to proceed in the darkroom, ASK for help. 
  • If you misuse or abuse equipment you will be responsible for it.

I am aware that violation of the rules and procedures may result in the following:
  • 1st offense – VERBAL WARNING
  • 2nd offense – WRITTEN WARNING (will affect conduct grade). Loss of darkroom and computer privileges, with no class time to make up work. Arrangements must be made with the instructor for making up work before/after school
  • 3rd offense – DETENTION
  • 4th offense – Referral to administrator for further disciplinary action.
